Abe will be getting a break from me for a few days, as I am off to Tule Lake California for a Dressage Show.  We will be back to updating our blog on Monday.  We will see if he remembers me or not.  Hee Hee.

Yikes……

Well things are progressing along.  Abe wore the saddle and a bit yesterday.  No really big reaction out of him.  I chased him around with Uno for about an hour last night, too.  Poor Abe.

I want to Thank all my supporters.  As you can see, I have stuck you to my trailer.

Update on Abe

I am sorry we haven’t blogged for a few days.  Rob decided to fall of the hay truck and completely smashed his left heal bone.  I have been playing several roles, and blogging wasn’t one of them.  Abe and I have been spending quite a bit of time together.

He is wearing a surcingle, bridle, and ropes.  He has been tarp broke, leads well off of the left side, not so good on the right.  He still thinks I am a little strange, and loves to have his mane brushed.

He takes treats from anyone who will give them to him.  Today I got a lawn chain and took a 20 minute nap with him.  Napping is hard when all he wants to do is breath on me.

I hope to get some more pictures tomorrow with a saddle and bridle on.

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me and my adventure.

Big Day With Abe

Yesterday Abe got Roped, Sacked out with a plastic bag and a big towel, Combed all over,  and even got hosed off after working.  He has a thing about his face, but I managed to rub it all over with the towel and even put the towel over both eyes.  He just thinks I am a little odd.

This morning he came to me and ate alfalfa cubes out of my hand.  I can’t say he thinks I am cool or anything, but I can say he is starting to wander towards me when I head for the gate.

I am totally enjoying this experience a lot more than what I could have ever imagined.  I want to thank everyone who has been here to visit Abe, and to everyone who have given us support.

Go Rob

Here’s Abe and Rob.

For those of you whom know UNO, you will appreciate his new role in life.  He takes this very seriously.  I have been riding him in the pen with Abe.  His role is to follow Abe around, make him change directions and basically show off all of his skills as a broke his.  Trust me, he doesn’t have many skills.  This is me on my knees scratching my head thinking, \"what have I got myself into?\"This is me on my knees, scratching my head thinking, “What have I gotten myself into?”

Uno and Abe spent most of the afternoon playing.  Uno will grab Abe’s rope and drag him about.  Abe is not enthused about this, and is quite happy when I take Uno out.  But, Uno has taught Abe to approach people.  Linda Bezdek got to scratch Abe’s nose yesterday.  Abe came to me several times, and thinks its pretty cool to have a nose scratching.

We are home

Okay, Reno is a long drive from Roseburg, but Thanks to my buddy Solbritt the trip didn’t seem so long.

We left on Thursday afternoon, and got to Reno about 8pm.  After some trouble trying to find a place to park a truck and trailer, we ate, we gambled, I went to bed.  I was up and at em on Friday morning.  I got in a good work out at the hotel, and then after a bit to eat, it was off to the stock yard to get my new horse.

We did not get to select a horse.  We showed up, got some paperwork, and then backed the trailer in.  All 200 trainers will be getting a 3-5 year old gelding.  Mine is 3 years old, and quite a guy.  They loaded him after securing a halter to him.  He stood in the trailer for 8 hours.  Got him home, opened the back door and away he went into his new home.  I have spent some time with him today just letting him know I am the good in his new life.  He woke me at 4am this morning.  I guess he was just checking to see if I was still around. This is Abrahamabe 1st day

Okay,  I am overwhelmed with excitement as I set out my clothes for my short, quick trip to Reno tomorrow.  I will have photos to share with everyone.

Thank you Umpqua Valley ODS chapter for your sponsorship.  Wow.  You ladies, and men, too, have been a part of my life for so long.  It still amazes me on the amount of generosity there is in our chapter, and the amount of good you all do.  Thank you thank you thank you.

Hello Everyone,

I leave on Thursday Morning for Palomino Valley, Nevada to pick up my Mustang.  Wow.  I will be taking pictures and video as we go, and am looking forward to getting home on Friday night.

Thank you to everyone who has been supportive.  Thank you Jan Shipley for your generous check.
